Was the formula for making meth in «Breaking Bad» real?

(reproduction / publicity/)

Yes. Some steps and ingredients are identical to those used to make the drug in real life. However, key steps in the process are left out of the scenes so as not to encourage viewers to cook meth in their own kitchen.

To ensure realism, the program was consulted by chemist Donna Nelson, from the University of Oklahoma, who volunteered to help with the scripts. And actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul learned the process from chemists at the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).

The biggest difference in real life is the color of the result: in a process like the one used by Walter White, pure crystals would be clear or yellowish, not blue.
