How do unsaturated fats help cholesterol levels?<\/h2>\n

Foods high in unsaturated fats cause an increase in \u00abgood\u00bb cholesterol, which carries \u00abbad\u00bb cholesterol from the body to the liver.<\/p>\n

Once the \u00abbad\u00bb cholesterol is deposited in the liver, it can be broken down, preventing it from sticking to the walls of the arteries.<\/p>\n

\u00abAs part of a healthy, balanced diet, it’s best to choose foods that contain higher amounts of unsaturated fat and less saturated fat,\u00bb said the British Nutrition Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Heart Foundation said: \u00abIt is better for our hearts to replace saturated fats with unsaturated fats.<\/p>\n

\u00abMaking the simple switch from butter to margarine spread is one way to do it.\u00bb<\/p>\n

This is because margarine contains less saturated fat than butter, and there are other healthier options as well.\n<\/p>\n

\u00abConsider avocado, hummus, vegetable oils (such as olive or avocado oil), and nut or seed butters,\u00bb the Heart Foundation suggested.\n<\/p>\n
