WORRYING: 69% of Chileans rate their health status as fair or poor during the pandemic

According to information collected by CORPA Market Studies, regarding how their health status has been during the pandemic, 69% would rate it as fair or poor. Meanwhile, women declare that they have a better state of health than men with grades of 5.0 and 4.6, respectively.

As for how this is appreciated by social segmentation, it is the upper class that has a better state of health than the lower and lower middle class. ABC1C2 (Medium High) scores 5.2, and C3D (Medium Low and Low) scores 4.7.

Contrary to what one might think, older adults report having a better state of health. The data from the CORPA study show that between 18 and 30 years of age, their state of health is rated with a grade of 4.9, between 31 and 50 years of age with a grade of 4.6, and from 51 to 70 years of age the result is a 5. .0.

the neurologist Fernando Schifferlifounding member of Sochimes and medical director at Dormir.cl comments that the fact that older people state that they have a better state of health is due to their fulfillment in life.

“Older people already have their condition quite resolved from the economic point of view as well as from the family and social point of view. They already have their family established and a certain level of more or less adequate income, except for those who have just retired according to the current system, but in general older people have several life projects resolved. Instead, young people and children have more uncertainty ahead, especially seeing that our species is anxious, fearful and confined. Hence, confinement must be viewed from a positive perspective of care, prevention and not as a punishment or imprisonment, «says the specialist.

For Pavel CastilloCommercial Manager at CORPA Market Studies, “The study surprised us, the panorama is delicate, we are not only in a health and economic crisis, but also in physical and mental health. One in three Chileans say their health is poor, two-thirds have felt stressed and one-third depressed during the pandemic. We hope that these results will be a call to action in both the public and private spheres.”

Another noteworthy fact refers to the fact that a 38% of Chileans declare they are dissatisfied with their life in a pandemic. Where in the grade scale there is an important difference between social strata, obtaining grade 7.4 in ABC1C2 (Medium and High), and grade 6.7 in C3D (Low Medium and Low).

Likewise, in terms of the level of satisfaction, those who are most satisfied are people between 51 and 70 years old, giving it a score of 7.2. Meanwhile, those between 18 and 30 years old indicate a 6.8 and those between 31 and 50 years old give it a grade of 6.7.

In this same area, those who sleep alone are less satisfied with their lives than those who share a room with another person. With note 6.5 and 7.1 respectively.

“Sleeping accompanied or co-sleeping is a special feeling of care and affection, because being with another is making another human being participate in my life. In conjunction with another, a difficult situation and a fragile condition such as the period of 8 hours of daily sleep can be better faced «Schifferli says.
