Fur is a discontinued model because fur production is cruel and no longer up-to-date. In addition, against the background of worldwide corona outbreaks on mink farms, it also poses a risk to the health of all of us: «As a company, it is therefore more important than ever to send a strong and public signal against real fur,» says Annika Kreuzer.
“Sustainability and the conscientious use of natural resources have played an important role at Woolworth for many years. For example, we have been completely without plastic shopping bags since 2016 – long before there was an official ban on them in Europe. Not using real fur in our products is a matter of conscience for us. We are very proud to be officially fur-free by joining the Fur Free Retailer program and to be able to offer our customers a sustainable range of products.» Roland Rissel, Head of Corporate Communications at Woolworth.
Global trend for more animal welfare
For years, most of the public has opposed fur production. A clear trend reversal towards animal and environmentally friendly fashion can also be seen in the big fashion houses all over the world. Today’s consumers want ethical and sustainable fashion that doesn’t make animals suffer.
