The Noiva do Cordeiro matriarchy needs many men to marry and thus maintain their community in which they are the ones in charge.
If Brazilian beauty and obedience are your thing, now is your chance: women from an Amazonian community are looking for men who want to marry them… but on the condition -there are always- to meet certain requirements.
Noiva do Cordeiro is the name of a Brazilian town made up mostly of women… the dream of every man who drooled over the images of ladies that the last World Cup left us. But hey, in addition to being made up of a female majority, Noiva do Cordeiro has the peculiarity of its form of administration, based on matriarchy.
There is nothing strange about the above… except that it seems that it is a reason why the men of the community are becoming extinct and for that reason many of their women between 20 and 35 years NEED of a «male» to marry… and we put male in quotation marks because what the «Brides of the Lamb» want the least is that: they look for men who do not want to impose themselves. They take care of everything: questions of government, religion and agricultural work, the main activity in the region.
“There are many things that women do better than men (…) Our community is more beautifulmore organized and more harmonious than if the men were in charge”, says one of the local women who celebrates many of the Brazilian festivities… so the dress is for pure healthy fun.
This is not to say that you will have all day to watch the fucho or spy on the neighbor… no: the men have to work, but outside the community… apart from only being able to return on weekends. In case of having sons, the same destiny will have when turning 18 years old….
For some, the conditions that women set to join their community may seem strict, but they point out that their men live very comfortably… now the problem is that most of them are married or are their relatives, so they are «convened» to «gentlemen, leave your own lives and come to be part of ours.»
According to the matriarch Delina Fernandesthere are about 250 women who live in isolation… and it all started when her grandmother abandoned her marriage, preferring to run away with another man… whom she also left, to get married -definitely- with a shepherd. It was this marriage that founded the church that gives the town its name: “Noiva do Cordeiro”.
Due to their origin, women were viewed with preconceptions, luckily the prosperity of the community has changed that view: when we went to Belo Vale -city near the town- they saw us “with a very frightened look, as if we were a horror. It was very strange.»
Well, does anyone pack their bags yet?
