Will an asteroid hit Earth this October 3?

A few months ago, NASA discovered a massive asteroid, classified as asteroid 2007 FT3which will pass through a point very close to Earth on October 3just like the asteroid that will approach in 2029.

The astronomers who studied the composition of this space mass detected that this giant asteroid It is made up of gold, an element that caught the attention of many, and which produced a wave of interest about its possible collision with the Earth in order to exploit its resources.

But its composition was not the factor that caused the most interest, as astronomers calculated that the path of this asteroid will pass particularly close to Earth. Although it was ruled out FT3 asteroid collisionthe scientists decided to run simulations to see what would happen in the event of a crash.

What would happen if the asteroid FT3 hit the Earth?

The chances of impact are one in 11 millionbut if the FT3 asteroid were to collide, it would do so at a speed of approximately 20.37 kilometers per second and would not cause such catastrophic damage as to make us forget about our existence, although some asteroids pass so close to Earth that they make us doubt about the future .

However, the first thought of most societies upon learning that the asteroid could hit Earth, it was not in that it would end our life, but in what would be done with the gold that it contains; once again, the human being superimposes his own interests on the conservation of the elements that surround us, even the spatial ones.

The asteroid will approach Earth at a radius of 138 million kilometers and by 2068 it will be only 24.5 million kilometers away; a distance that will surely make us think much more intensely about the demise of the human race. But even so, the POT ruled out that this radius represents a risk to the planet, therefore, we should fear little, but we do have a lot to reflect on.
