Who wears those weird clothes from fashion shows?

The most “usable” pieces are given away or sold to characters from the fashion world: stylists, models, artists and fashion critics. The most extravagant costumes, on the other hand, usually return to their creators’ ateliers. Normally, the pieces presented in fashion shows are not mass-produced and do not reach stores exactly the way they came into the world. “The shows are made for professionals in the fashion world, not for ordinary people to choose what they are going to wear,” says journalist Erika Palomino, fashion expert at Folha de S. Paulo. The function of the shows is to show the designers’ ideas for the next collection.

Therefore, what really counts are the colors, the fabrics, the length of the skirts, the shape of the sleeves, the size of the necklines and other details that only the eyes of experts can capture. Now the punk hair, butts and breasts outside have the same function as a watermelon hanging around the neck: attract attention. From who? Of the hundreds of journalists, photographers and videographers who rub shoulders at events like São Paulo Fashion Week. At events of this size, anything goes to stand out among so many stylists. In one of the editions of SPFW, for example, Jum Nakao took to the catwalk a collection made only of paper. At the end of the parade, all the pieces were torn apart. No one understood exactly what he wanted with it, but his name was on people’s lips for a long time.
