Pablo Picasso. According to Guinness Book of Recordsthe Spanish painter signed 13,500 canvases, 100,000 engravings, 34,000 illustrations in books and 300 sculptures, over his more than 80-year career.

His first work was The Picador, painted in 1889, when Picasso was only 8 years old. From then on, the artist began painting compulsively, creating different styles within his own body of work. Therefore, Picasso cannot be included in just one artistic movement. In fact, it is possible to find several artistic periods within his own work. The main ones are blue (from 1901 to 1904), pink (1905 to 1907), cubist (1907 to 1916), classic (1917 to 1924), a period of predominance of surrealism (1925 to 1936) and another of war and postwar impressions (1937 to 1953).

From 1953 onwards, Picasso went through his most productive period, mixing styles and reinterpreting works by renowned artists – to give you an idea, he made 58 paintings based on The girlsby the Spaniard Velásquez, and more than 170 works (including paintings, prints, linographs and sculptures) inspired by The Picnic on the Grass, from French Manet. Picasso died at the age of 91 and painted until his last year of life – in 1973.
