Which celebrities died murdered by their own fans?

1) JOHN LENNON

Date of death: December 8, 1980

The beatle was executed with five shots outside his building in New York. John and the killer, Mark Chapman, had met hours earlier when Mark brought the Double Fantasy disc to him for his autograph. Chapman was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of release after 20 years. Since 2000, he has made biennial requests for freedom, all of which have been denied.

2) SELENA QUINTANILLA-PÉREZ

Date of death: March 31, 1995

At the age of 23, Selena was the first Latina to top the Billboard 200. Yolanda Saldívar, president of the fan club and manager of the singer’s boutiques, shot her in the back. The woman had been fired from both positions for embezzling about $60,000. Revolted, she bought a revolver, found the singer and fired. She was sentenced to life in prison and could apply for parole in 2025.

3) DIMEBAG DARRELL

Date of death: December 8, 2004

During a show in Columbus (USA), Nathan Gale took the stage and fired five shots at the Damageplan guitarist and former member of Pantera, who died there. Nathan also shot everyone who tried to stop him (there were three more dead and ten wounded). He said the reason seconds before the execution: “You ended up with Pantera. You ruined my life.” Gale was killed in the act by a police officer

4) ANDRÉS ESCOBAR

Date of death: July 2, 1994

The defender was an idol for the Colombian national team. In the 1994 World Cup, the squad was one of the favorites, but was eliminated after losing to the USA with an embarrassing own goal by Escobar. In Medellín, the player returned as a great villain and ended up being murdered by Humberto Muñoz Castro and three other men. Escobar was shot 12 times – reports indicate that the executioner would have fired the shots shouting “Gol!”, like a soccer announcer. To this day, it is not known whether it was an ordered death or whether the men were just very angry with the selection. Castro served 43 years in prison, served 11 and was released for good behavior

5) REBECCA SCHAEFFER

Date of death: July 18, 1989

Child model, Schaeffer emerged as an actress in series and films. Robert John Bardo, a stalker who had pursued her since 1986, was outraged by Schaeffer’s sex scene in Class Struggle in Beverly Hills, stating that it destroyed his concept of innocence and purity that he had of her. So, he went to the actress’s apartment, asked for an autograph and waited at the entrance. When she appeared, the killer opened fire on the woman, who did not resist. Bardo was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole.

6) CHRISTINA GRIMMIE

Date of death: June 11, 2016

Christina participated in The Voice of the USA in 2014. Trained by Adam Levine, she finished third, but gained a lot of repercussions with her cover videos on YouTube. After a performance in Orlando, Christina came out to sign autographs and was shot by Kevin Loibl, a fan who felt betrayed after Grimmie posted a photo with her boyfriend on Instagram. Loibl committed suicide afterwards

7) ALBERT EBOSSE

Date of death: August 3, 2014

The death of the Cameroonian striker is shrouded in mystery. JS Kabylie, the team for which he was top scorer, lost 2-1 to USM Algiers when his own fans started throwing stones at the players. One of them hit Albert’s head, who had head trauma and internal bleeding and couldn’t resist. But, according to the autopsy, the player would still have suffered head and shoulder injuries caused by some kind of aggression in the changing rooms. JS Kabylie was banned from the 2015 edition of the African Champions League
