What to do if I don’t identify with my zodiac sign?

On more than one occasion, when one talks about astrology, there is no shortage of skeptics who begin to ridicule the subject, pointing out that «the descriptions are very vague and do not represent you.»

My natural response to this type of statement is to ask if the skeptic has ever had his or her birth chart done and usually the answer is no. One can intuit that this is always the case since, indeed, astrology provides broad descriptions right off the bat in the media since there is no room to go deeper and, on the other hand, each natal chart is unique. There is no way to speak to everyone in a particular way and so general guidance is offered through the Sun sign.

Asking whether skeptics have done their natal chart is a polite way of informing them that astrology is a little deeper than pop culture or magazine astrology that we usually find in newspapers and magazines.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with Sun sign astrology, since it’sIt is the Sun that symbolizes the core of who we are, our style of self-expression, when it comes to astrological interpretation.

In fact, the American astrologer Jessica Adams He wrote a really good article a while ago about the importance of sun sign astrology and how people (mainly professional astrologers) need to stop looking down on it. Here is the link in case you are interested and you read in English (otherwise, you can use the google translator, which is not so bad).

Although I am not a fundamentalist of astrology (I recognize and appreciate that it is not liked, believed or respected by everyone), I suggest that people do some research before you decide to rule out astrology altogether. That said, here are a couple of suggestions on what to do when your zodiac sign doesn’t make any sense to you:

1.- The first thing is something a bit obvious but it is not so if they don’t tell you: Keep looking! In the world there are tons of media and astrologers that publish their interpretations. Check 2 or 3 that make sense to you. Compare what they say. Find someone who has a voice that makes sense to you. Sometimes you need to have options to find something that resonates with you.

2.- Do not miss the opportunity to make your birth chart

A natal chart is like having your own map or cosmic plane. If you know the time and place of your birth, you can go to a website like astro.comwhere you can check out your chart for free and take a look.

If you feel really brave, you can google a bit to try to interpret it on your own first. However, neither advice really compares to the last point:

3. Get a reading. This advice is probably the most important advice I can give you, as not even a horoscope will be able to go into all the details about your birth chart. In a reading, a reputable astrologer not only would it show you, for example, that you are an Aries Sun, a Cancer Moon, and a rising Taurus, but it would also show you how these three pieces (and more) work together to fuel your greatness and how sometimes they can trip you up.

Good luck!
