What is tutti-frutti flavor made of?

It depends on the country, region and availability of raw materials. In Brazil, the tutti-frutti of candies, chewing gum, lollipops, jellies and Brazilian ice cream is based on the aroma of banana and the flavor of orange. But these fruits are never alone. As the name implies (in Italian, tutti-frutti means “all fruits”), combinations can include other flavors. Around here, the mix most used by the industry takes banana, orange, pineapple and strawberry. In Europe, other fruits predominate, such as figs, plums and apricots. Although the expression tutti-frutti is from the Italian language, credit for the invention of the flavor is attributed to the American Ray Motorhead. Owner of an ice cream industry in the state of Kentucky (USA), the guy created, in the early 50’s, a flavor in honor of his daughter, Charlotte. The essence name was a pun on Toodie (pronounced “túdi”), the little girl’s nickname.
