What is a cusp in astrology? Does it change anything?

(Leandro Lassmar/)

The cusp is the midway point where the Sun is in transition, crossing the last degree of one constellation to enter the first degree of the next. In a simpler way, it is the date on which the period of births under one sign ends and the period of the next begins.

Whoever is born on the cusp (that is, on the last day of their sign) ends up also absorbing characteristics of the following one, becoming a hybrid native in the eyes of astrology. For example: if the person is born in the last degree of Gemini, he is also a native of Cancer, without ceasing to express Gemini traits.

But wouldn’t that cause an “identity crisis”? Not so much, because the date of birth defines an astral map with several elements and a complex relationship between them. The “main” sign, even if it is a cusp hybrid, is just one of those clues that delineate a person’s personality.
