How can you get more vitamin C in your diet?

There are several foods that are naturally rich in vitamin C and are a great way to increase your nutrient intake.

Mr. Kristian recommends «citrus fruits, red peppers, tomatoes and potatoes«, since they all contain «large amounts» of the vitamin.

The NHS recommends getting more vitamin C into your diet by eating citrus fruits or drinking orange juice.

Other fruits full of vitamin C are strawberries and blackberries.

Vegetables high in vitamin C include broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

Vitamin C supplements can also be purchased at health food stores and supermarkets.

How much vitamin C should I take?

According to the NHS, adults in 19 to 64 years old need 40 mg of vitamin C daily.

Most people should be able to get more than enough from their daily diet.

However, the body cannot store vitamin C, so making sure you get enough is vital.

The NHS also warns people not to take too much vitamin C. If taken in large quantities, excessive consumption can cause stomach pain, diarrhea and flatulence.
