Vibra joins Jineth Bedoya because #NoEsHoraDeCallar
Today is the National Day for the Dignity of Women Victims of Sexual Violence, a date that exists thanks to Jineth Bedoya. This is his story.
On May 25, 2000, the journalist Jineth Bedoya was kidnapped, tortured and sexually abused while doing her job. She is one of hundreds, maybe thousands of women who are victims of sexual violence in our country. Women whose voice is not heard due to fear, shame, revictimization. Jineth made the brave decision to tell her story in September of the same year in Spain and started a personal campaign under the slogan It’s not time to shut upwith which she seeks to claim the rights of all women who have gone through the same thing as her.
Thanks to the work of Jineth Bedoya, May 25 was declared the National Day for the Dignity of Women Victims of Sexual Violence. This fighter decided to commemorate this date with the Festival for the Life of Women, which takes place annually on May 23, 24 and 25 somewhere in our country. This year it takes place in Tumaco, Nariño, with a musical closing by artists such as Alkilados, Lil & El Vega and Santiago Cruz, whose theme Count to 3 (or to 10) It is a tribute to all the women who, like Jineth, have survived to tell their story.…
