This Thursday the Technological University of Pereira awarded Lucas Villa a posthumous degree during a tribute at your facilities.
On May 5, the young activist Lucas Villa was the victim of a brutal attack by civilians who shot him 8 times while peacefully demonstrating on the César Gaviria viaduct in the city of Pereira, along with other young people.
At the time it was believed that the young man had lost his life due to the seriousness of his injuries, but according to information from the San Jorge de Pereira University Hospital where he was treated, Villa would have survived but was in critical condition.
There was much speculation about it, but it was his own family that was responsible for giving true information days later. Through networks they stated that specialists would have subjected Lucas to an induced coma in order to subsequently evaluate his neurological status.

After almost 6 days of fighting in the hospital, his heart stopped beating on the night of May 11, becoming not only a symbol of peaceful demonstrations with their dances, their songs and their respect for life, but also a symbol of the violence that plagues the country these days.
University awarded posthumous title to Lucas Villa during homage
This Thursday hundreds of people came to the Technological University to say goodbye to Lucas. There his body remained in a burning chamber ceremony and he surrendered a heartfelt tribute in his memory, where directors of the institution, family and friends dedicated some heartfelt words to him.
Similarly, the university presented his father and sister with his posthumous degree as a professional in Sports and Recreation Sciences.

“While passing through the Technological University of Pereira, Lucas Villa was characterized by his excellent values and his academic performance. Reason for which he will remain in the memory of those who shared the cloister classrooms with him”
Finally, his body was transferred to the La Ofrenda cemetery park for his funeral.
