Due to their size and higher stability, XXL dog trailers are usually (significantly) more expensive than bicycle trailers in standard dimensions. They also require more storage space.

Size
The right size is crucial for your dog’s well-being. In any case, he should stand upright, lie stretched out and be able to turn around in the trailer. With the appropriate formulas you can easily calculate the optimal size.
Maximum load
The maximum load is very important, because the size alone says nothing about the weight of your dog. The standard models are often only suitable for animals weighing less than 20 kilograms – this is usually not sufficient for large dogs.
Even if a trailer fits in size, you should not take the risk of overloading. In the worst case, the material cannot withstand the weight of your dog and tears while driving. Overloading can also severely affect road holding. In any case, transporting your dog in an underweight trailer will compromise your dog’s safety and it’s definitely not worth the risk.
