Mexico is a reference for Catholicism and proof of this are its churchespresent in any corner of the territory. Standing buildings for centuries, standing out for its Architectural beauty and religious syncretism. Some have a unique and eclectic architecture, while others have extraordinarily ornate interiors.

Regardless of our religious beliefs, it is always pleasant and enriching to take a tour of some of these temples and churches, which not only embellish the streets, but also that They are part of the history of Mexico, their art and their culture.

Santo Domingo Temple, Oaxaca

This construction represents an icon not only of the city of Oaxaca, but of all Mexico, becoming one of the main tourist attractions of the country. The decoration of the temple is one of the most outstanding examples of the Mexican Baroque, includes the exceptional family tree of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and 36 paintings that illustrate passages from the Old Testament. The whole space is covered by a true and intricate network of intertwood where Santos, Angels, Cherubines and Patriarchs appear.

The interior is longitudinally composed of the choir and sotocoro, ship, cruise and apse. Throughout the ship, fine carpentry and blacksmith works are observed, as well as sculptures, paintings and reliefs. Currently the former convent houses the facilities of the Oaxaca Regional Museum. 6 blocks are located north of the central square (Zócalo) of the city of Oaxaca. It is delimited by Macedonio Alcalá, Berriozabal, Gurrión and Reforma streets.
