TV dog trainers are now an integral part of TV.
Every week, thousands of dog lovers sit in front of the screen and follow the dog trainers on television as they solve the problems of other dog owners in front of the excited viewers.
But which are the most popular dog whisperers in Germany? Who are well-known dog trainers abroad?
I have researched the subject of dog trainers on TV and will tell you which programs are worth watching.
There are numerous dog trainers on TV.
Every trainer works according to his own beliefs and in his own way. That’s why I recommend that you choose a trainer as a role model that fits your upbringing and life with your dog.
Martin Ruetter, Germany
Martin Rütter is probably the most famous TV dog trainer in Germany. Born in Duisburg in 1970, he spent almost his entire life with dogs. Martin Rütter is a trained animal psychologist and created his own training system DOGS (Dog Orientated Guiding System) in 1995.
Among other things, Martin Rütter worked in a wolf breeding station and various other canine facilities. His training concept was shaped by this work.
Martin Rütter has been known for years as the German dog whisperer. With his humorous and direct manner, he always manages to confront dog owners with precarious and serious issues.
Martin Rütter made the TV breakthrough with his program «der Hundeprofi» and today, with several programs from the world of TV dog trainers, it is impossible to imagine life without it.
His current TV show on RTL with the name: “The puppies are coming” is particularly popular.
Cesar Millan, USA
Cesar Millan was probably one of the first TV dog trainers. He was born in Mexico in 1969 and became known worldwide through his TV series The Dog Whisperers.
Cesar Millan’s series has been broadcast in over 80 countries over 9 seasons, containing around 150 episodes.
Among other things, the dog whisperer has a soft spot for problem dogs and focuses on rehabilitating aggressive animals.
He opened his “Dog Psychology Center” near Los Angeles. The center is designed to treat dogs with behavioral disorders and thus enable them to lead a social life.
Since Cesar Millan often points out in his shows that you have to take a «leadership» role towards the dogs and use training methods that work through punishment, he is considered controversial among dog lovers.
Maike Maia Nowak, Germany
Maike Maja Nowak is particularly well-known among dog owners who are enthusiastic about pack leadership and dog life in packs.
After Maja Nowak bought a dog, she began to deal with the subject of dogs and relationships and successfully completed her training as an animal psychologist.
Maike Maja Nowak has not only written numerous books, but also runs a dog school in Berlin.
In 2013, the TV station ZDF broadcast the 5-part television production «Die Hundeflüsterin».
Mirko Tomasini
Mirko Tomasini is a trained animal healer and appears regularly in the TV series «Tiere sucht ein Heimat-WDR».
The dog professional became known through the publication of his book «Das Leitwolftraining – language-free communication with dogs».
Mirko Tormasini put the Leitwolf principle down on paper. In his courses, the dog owners learn to communicate with the dogs and to understand the dog in a non-verbal, intuitive way and with their own body language.
In this type of training, the focus is on relationship rather than training. He wants people to understand and learn to read four-legged friends.
The advantage of this training concept is that the dog and the human become more balanced and calm through the mutual interaction.
