Perhaps no photograph of the moon can evoke as powerful an emotion as seeing our satellite live, through a telescope –This was demonstrated by a moving audiovisual experiment–.
But out there there is a true alchemist of the image who has managed to reveal secrets of the moon from his photographs. His name is Andrew McCarthy, a layman astrophotographer who has nonetheless taken what might be the most beautiful photos of the moon.
And it is that McCarthy uses his ingenuity and creativity more than expensive or sophisticated equipment. So he gets images like this one, which shows the hidden colors of the moon:
To obtain this mythical image, McCarthy took a staggering 150,000 photographs of the moon with different objectives. In this way, he was able to show the colors created by the concentration of minerals present in the underground layers and that we could see if our photoreceptor cells in the retina could capture other light waves.
But in addition to this iridescent photograph, McCarthy has taken others that, we insist, are perhaps the most beautiful photos of the moon. What do you think?
