As romantic and idealistic as we may be, every card or letter must be accompanied by something else that we want or need, as this shows that the person who gives us the gift cares about us.

We’re not kids anymore, so unless we’re collectors or have specifically requested that doll or stuffed animal, please refrain from being cutesy proactive.
