1) Underneath their armor, the Evangelion Units, or EVAs, are living biological beings, created from the attempt to clone an Angel (giant monsters that are the main villains of the anime)

4) The Progressive Knife is stored in the utility turret on the left arm. It works with high-frequency particle vibrations, which allows it to cut objects at a molecular level.
5) At one point in the anime, it is discovered that an Evangelion Unit needs a soul to function properly. Eva-01 possesses a portion of the soul of Shinji’s mother, Yui Ikari, who died during an experiment done inside the mecha.
6)The movements made with the pilot’s hands control the movement of the EVA limbs – the higher the synchronization rate, the more faithful and faster the movements. Eva-01 has a force proportional to its size: its punches are not able to throw Angels away.
7) The casing is all metal, but the real protection comes from the AT-Field.
8) Pilots control EVAs by thought. The greater the synchronization, the greater the responsiveness. All damage done to the Unit is felt by the pilot, as a “virtual pain”
BERSERK MODE
When it takes too much damage, Unit-01 activates its stronger Berserk state, in which it can break the limbs and core of certain Angels using only its bare hands.
IMPENETRABLE
The AT-Field is an external force field that can be used both as a defensive shield and as an offensive form. In this second case, the field is reversed and used to pierce the opponent’s AT-Field
ENTRY PLUG
Pilots enter EVAs via the Entry Plug. It is an elongated and cylindrical compartment where the pilot’s cockpit is located.
BREATHABLE LIQUID
Pilots are submerged in a substance called LCL, which increases synchrony with their unit. The liquid enters through the nose and fills the pilot’s lungs, facilitating the synchronization of nerve impulses with the VAS. He is able to breathe normally while immersed in the LCL. Once activated, the LCL acquires transparency and allows the pilot to have a panoramic view of the exterior of the Eva-01. As a safety measure, the Entry Plug can be ejected from the Control Bridge, at a distance
SOURCE OF POWER
The energy source of the Evangelion Units is the Umbilical Cable, which guarantees energy for full operation. The cable can be removed remotely by the control center or by the pilot himself. Without it, EVAs can operate on an internal battery for 5 minutes under normal conditions or just one minute at full power.
