Since we had reached the age of reason, all women have worried about keeping every element of our image. Hygiene, hair, makeup and clothing are the most care, but one that we cannot neglect are our nails, because manicure and pedicure complement our look. For this reason, we always seek in addition to get decorated nails, do it with the latest fashion trends and styles imposed worldwide.
Many of us think that these trends arise on the runways or they’re a simply result from the eccentricity of some celebrities, but today this has changed. Social media and the internet are having a leading role in setting trends, and fashion is one of these.
Currently social networks like “Instagram” or “Pinterest” have created global trends around a new style for Nail called “bubble nails”. Such has been the influence of social networks that celebrities like Rihanna and Beyoncé have joined this trend.
However, many thought that it was recently created, but the truth is that it’s been between us for a long time. It appeared in 2009 at beauty salons in Philadelphia, United States. About six years later, the trend has finally caught on, with thousands of Instagram posts under the #bubblenails hashtag. But what the “nail bubble” is? And what makes it so attractive?
This latest nail trend is surprising to say the least. Women are going beyond experimenting with colors and designs to play with the actual shape of their nails with 3D “bubble nails.”
According to famous manicurists, bubble nails are essentially acrylics with a much greater thickness than normal. To achieve the look, a nail technician places a ball (or multiple balls) of acrylic at the center of the nail and builds it out by adding layers.
While acrylics are typically applied as thinly as possible, this look is all about the bulk. But because the application creates such a heavy layer, the manicurist warns the acrylic may be more prone to falling off.
And it’s not just bubble nails that are trending; so-called “hump nails” are also having a moment. The two look similar on the surface, but the difference has everything to do with nail length. Bubble nails keep the nail bed short while hump nails have a more elongated shape (though a pointy or square end can appear on either).
While some people love their bubble nails, others are definitely more skeptical of the trend. What’s your take on bubble nails? Would you ever try them?
