The kiss, Auguste Rodin, around 1882
Paolo and Francesca, two characters from the Divine Comedy merge into a deep kiss for which both, according to the story of Dante Alighieri, were killed by her husband when discovering them in that position. The piece, a sculpture made of marble, may account for the oldest reproduction of two melting in each other.
