The in-person version of the Disney classic The little Mermaid will have an actress whose appearance is beautiful, but different from the character in the drawing animated.
Many of us have an indelible memory of Ariel singing under the sea with all her sea friends: a mermaid with very white skin and very red hair.

It is because of that for some people it was a shock that this character is going to be interpreted with a girl with a very different appearance from the cartoon.
«After an extensive search, it became abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance, as well as a glorious voice, all the intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.»
Director Rob Marshall said in a statement.
Refers to singer Halle Bailey, who is part of the musical duo Chloe X Halle; she is happy with the news.
The 19-year-old artist is very beautiful, however, as soon as the producer made the announcement on her networks, the comments were filled with criticism for what other than Ariel.

«Why are we replacing a minority, the redheads, with another minority?»
“This is so hypocritical. If Tiana, Mulan, Jasmine, Pocahontas or Kida were played by people of another race or skin color the world would go crazy and scream that it’s racism, an actress of color is chosen to be Ariel and the world has to agree with that or is racist, what happens?
«Make no mistake, she’s pretty and could definitely be a mermaid, but she doesn’t look anything like Ariel… I feel like the lack of resemblance will ruin the ‘live-action’ version, for me.»

As you can see, this is a purely aesthetic discussion, that is, the problem is the hair and skin color. After reading the previous opinions, what do you think?
Note that although redheads are indeed a minority, it is not an ethnic groupa concept that, by the way, goes far beyond the physical aspect.
