The 4 pillars of destiny: what are they and how they influence our life

The concept of the «4 pillars of destiny» is one of the most fascinating traditions of oriental astrology, particularly prominent in Chinese culture. Known as Bazi, this technique is based on the study of the exact date and time of the birth of a person to unravel the influences that mold their life.

The 4 pillars of destiny, or Bazi, are based on the belief that the moment of the birth of a person is imbued with cosmic energies that influence his life. Each of the four pillars represents a different aspect of the destination, providing an integral vision of personality, the opportunities and the challenges that a person can face.

The knowledge of the moment of your birth governs the rest of your days.

Structure of the 4 pillars of destiny

Each of the 4 pillars is made up of two elements, one of them isThe heavenly trunk (tiangan). There are ten celestial trunks, each associated with one of the five elements in its two forms (Yin and Yang). These trunks represent the primary and basic influence on a person's life. The other element is lto terrestrial branch (Dizhi). There are twelve terrestrial branches, each associated with one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. These branches represent the secondary aspects that affect a person and are linked to the five elements.

The four pillars are divided as follows:

  • Pilar of the year: Represents the general environment and inherited influences.
  • Pilar of the month: reflects family, career and social environment.
  • Pilar of the day: Indicates central personality and intimate relationships.
  • Pilar de la Hora: shows the aspirations and future potential.
