Another of the Works by Tadao Ando and his architectural firm in Latin America is Casa Wabi, A project in collaboration with the BAAQ´ study, located on the coast of Oaxaca, 30 minutes from Puerto Escondido. This complex is found in a land of 25 hectares and was designed to accentuate the landscape of the area, since the houses were built based on concrete and include traditional palapas of the coast.
The name Wabi comes from Japanese Wabi Sabi, concept that designates an aesthetic ideal or way of life that andNCUENTRA THE BEAUTY IN IMPERFECTION. This is because this foundation created by the Bosco Sodi artist aims to promote the exchange of ideas between artists from local communities.
So, Wabi house It integrates six private bedrooms, two shared studies, a multipurpose room, a projection room, an exhibition gallery, A sculptural garden and multiple recreational spaces.
Monterrey house
Monterrey house is One of Tadao's most famous works in Latin Americabeing the first residential project of this architect in Mexico.
Located on a slope of the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park, this house houses a double height library, which is the focal point of the project, since it cuts through the diagonal to a square patio, with the structure of a traditional Mexican hacienda.
Casa Monterrey has structures similar to the water temple in Japan, which are ordered at the lower levels around the two triangular interior courtyards. With this work, Tadao Ando paid tribute to Luis Barragán, a Mexican architect who says he admires.
