Sungazing: the art of gazing at the sun to heal mind and body

We knew that the sun was endowed with powerful magic. However, we never imagined that looking at the sun’s rays in the morning would be healing for the body and mind. We recently discovered Sungazing, a technique that invites us to look at the sun (when it is not dangerous) and capture its most valuable energy.

Hira Ratan Manek He is the guru of this art that puts us in tune with sunlight. Under the belief that our body has photovoltaic cells capable of converting solar energy into vital energy, this teacher invites us to fill ourselves with the sun.

Contemporary medicine has proven that reconnecting with the natural world can be the best medicine, to such an extent that Doctors already prescribe outdoor activities to improve health. Sunbathing has become almost the only way to get vitamin D for our body, and when we learned that it is good for avoid mental disorders, such as depression, we convinced ourselves to add it to our routine. But, more than a simple physical well-being practice, it is a psychocultural ritual.

Sungazing or the art of sunbathing has both therapeutic and cathartic qualities. With certainty we can say that this great star affects our physical and emotional health. Taking into account that this source of well-being is completely free and offers enormous possibilities for well-being, then we can assure that looking and sunbathing will be the medicine of the 21st century.

How to sunbathe or sungazing correctly?

Considering the changes in the atmosphere, we cannot sunbathe lightly and without protection. If what you want is to take a solar energy bath correctly, then we recommend that you do it 10 to 15 minutes on sunny days and 30 to 40 minutes on cloudy days.

Even during sunny days you can take the energy under the shade of a tree. Remember that if you do it directly you must protect your skin very well or you can also take a bike ride or be on the move.

For the Sungazing technique you must have greater commitment and stability. First we recommend you go outside to look at the sun for ten seconds at dawn. Little by little you will increase the time until your eyesight allows it (without damaging it). Over time you will see that you will observe the sun directly at sunrise for about five or ten minutes. The recommended maximum is 45 minutes and time is divided to heal both the mind, body and spirit.

We know that it is not a great discovery to use the sun as a source of well-being, but we can discover different ways in which to absorb its energy and heal the being. Have you sungazing today?
