The spatial wealth inherent to traditional Spanish architecture is unique, and in this residential project, Mexican interior designer Sofia Aspe took the most.
With a single plant and 287 square meters at your disposal, Aspe sought to create a broad, serene design. “From the original department we mainly retain the structure, but we change the distribution of the spaces so that it will better adjust to the needs and behaviors of the new owners. For example, The kitchen was located in the background, following the old wayso we open it and bring it closer to the social zone, ”said Sofia.
The library with the ceramic collection extends to the auxiliary dining room with the table and the chairs of Meridiani. Works by Édgar Orlaineta and Aldo Chaparro.Montse Garriga
Beyond relocating certain areas, Sofía Aspe considered a design that reflected a social and cultural moment that truly represented those who would inhabit the place. A global design that will cover from the way of inhabiting space to the most thorough details. “We recreate the traditional moldings of European floors on ceilings and walls to put it in context; However, we introduced a large amount of Mexican art and design so as not to lose connection with the roots of its inhabitants, ”added the interior designer.
The amplitude of the place is largely due to having internal and good windows from where it receives a generous natural light. Additionally, A considerable height was recovered on roofs by eliminating an existing ceiling.

Already inside, the oak in fish thorn is repeated until reaching the Valencian tile of the kitchen. “Kitchen is an important space within social areas. It is exposed and hidden at the same time thanks to the design in the architectural carpentry that allows it to be functional and aesthetic simultaneously, ”said Aspe.
