Screen saver definition

Screen saver in english. Program that is activated when the computer is idle for a certain period of time and displays graphic effects on the screen, generally hiding the content that is being worked on.

It is usually deactivated by moving the mouse or pressing a key and can have a security key to access the desktop again.

Originally they were used to extend the useful life of monitors. Formerly in the monitors the images that remained a long time without moving could be recorded on the screen; screen savers were born so that an image never stays long without moving. Currently they have a static or security function, and in some cases they also serve to activate some routine process such as disk scanning by antivirus.
