rescue dog Whitey

Whitey initially required emergency supplies of fluids and painkillers. We started treatment with a medicated bath twice a week to soothe his skin and get rid of the crusts, antibiotics and anti-mite medication. Even his deep bite wounds had to be rinsed daily.

Updated October 12, 2019

We are glad that Whitey is doing so much better now. He still receives intensive care for his skin: daily antibiotics, weekly medicated baths and other medication to treat a possible mite infection. However, his skin is already much less inflamed, the crusting has decreased and he is definitely feeling better. The bite marks on the back of his legs are healing, and he has a lot of energy, running and playing (making him difficult to take photos of).

Despite the progress made, we suspect that he may need long-term care due to his skin condition, which is likely the result of severe allergies (atopic dermatitis). So his recovery will be longer and he could always have some bald spots. He also needs to be neutered.

Updated February 12, 2020

Whitey has made a remarkably good recovery and has become a happy, healthy dog. He still needs to be neutered but we want to make sure he is strong enough for an operation. But now that he is gaining strength day by day, he can be operated on soon.

We are touched that Whitey will live for the rest of his days with the Thai lady Khun Pa who originally found him. She just couldn’t forget the poor, helpless dog she saw on the street and asked to adopt him if he was strong enough. Now Whitey spends his days with her, enjoying long walks through the coconut trees to the beach with his other canine companions. She even built him his own little house with a fan and light.

We are so happy that Whitey got his second chance at life.
