Begging for a piece of meat at a butcher’s shop – for many stray dogs in Chennai, India, it’s everyday business to survive the harsh conditions on the streets. For the dog Sunface, this begging almost cost him his life. When he tried to steal a large piece of chicken that fell on the ground, the butcher decided to «teach him a lesson» and cut off his entire nose with a butcher knife. A person who witnessed this horrific incident immediately called our local partner, Blue Cross India.
Although the dog was very badly injured, the team managed to save his life. A wonder! When he stopped suffering from fear and pain, the dog turned out to be incredibly cute and intelligent.
