The executive director of fishedPaulo Rojas, explained that “inviting people to consume seafood seeks to support artisanal fishermen who have experienced an unfavorable situation during the pandemic, therefore, the call is to go responsibly to coves and fishmongers and prefer products of the sea to reactivate this sector”.
Regarding the latter, «the consumption of seafood has a series of benefits to improve people’s health and favor brain development in children».
«In addition, there is a commitment between FAO and various institutions that seek to promote the consumption of seafood and healthy eating, through various initiatives and campaigns throughout Chile, such as fairs and interventions with live kitchens, which had to be suspended. because of the pandemic,” Rojas explained.

Crab cake
Ingredients: (4 people)
600 gr. of crab meat (equivalent to about 10 whole crabs)
A pair of crab tongs to decorate
100 gr. of butter
1 onion in small cubes
1 sliced garlic
Color chili, pepper, cumin and salt to taste
10 crushed soda crackers (with your hands)
1 glass of milk (you may need a little more)
250 gr. of chanco or butter cheese.
Preparation:
In a pot, fry gently with a little butter, garlic and onion, as soon as they become translucent add colored chili, cumin and black pepper.
Add the already cooked crab meat, and mix.
Crush ground soda crackers with your hands and add, and incorporate milk, until a silky texture is achieved.
We finish with a little chanco, or buttery cheese. Place in a clay container and gratin in the oven.
