1) López was born in Santa Isabel, Colombia. According to her mother, she was a poor, suffering, but very loved child. Pedro, however, claimed to be the son of a prostitute and that he saw her “in action” with clients. At age 8 he ran away from home to live on the street.

two) He ended up in Bogota and joined street kids to protect himself. Around this time, he was molested by a stranger who offered him food and shelter. At the age of 12, he was raped again in an orphanage, from which he escaped to return to the streets and start stealing.

3) The killer instinct awoke when Pedro he was arrested for car theft, aged 21. In jail, he was raped and “passed” his two assailants to the knife. Self-defense homicides did not increase the sentence Lópezwho left chess at 23 to start a career as a serial killer.

4) He wandered through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru looking for victims. Approached poor girls, between 8 and 12 years old, asking for help or information. When he managed to get the little girls to a secluded place, he repeatedly beat and raped them before strangling them.

5) In 1980, he broke the pattern: he attacked a middle-class girl in Ambato, Ecuador, and the case became news. When approaching another girl at a fair, he caught the attention of Dona Carlina, who decided to fight the murderer. With the help of other traders, Pedro was handed over to the police.

6) Pedro Alonso it was very detailed in the confession to the police. He pointed out the places where he buried 57 victims and told what happened in each case. Despite having counted more than 300 children as victims, he was convicted of the murder of “only” 110 girls.

7) In Ecuador, the maximum sentence for one or more murders is 16 years. Even so, Pedro spent only 14 years behind bars, due to good behavior in prison. Upon release, he was deported to Colombia and spent three more years in a psychiatric hospital, until 1998.

What end did it take?

Upon leaving the psychiatric hospital, he visited and robbed his own mother, in Espinal, before disappearing into the interior of Colombia. He was found again in 2002 after committing another murder and sentenced to life in prison.
