Nicholas Symmes review: Motorola G9 Power

This week I reviewed the new Motorola G9 Power, which is quite an interesting team. The new of Motorolais strongly committed to autonomy, adding a battery of 6,000mAh capacity. This makes the phone have one of the longest durations in the mid-range, making it a great bet in the segment.

Let’s start with the design, where we have rounded edges and corners, while its back, although it is plastic, is quite comfortable to hold and has a very nice design. At the top we have the classic headphone jack 3.5mm they have decided to keepand it comes with a rear fingerprint reader, which is appreciated for the complexity of unlocking the phone using our face mask product of covid19.

We have a big screen with 6.8-inch HD+, delivering a spacious appearance. It does not come with the classic notch in the middle of the panel, but the front camera is located at the top left. Motorola also continues to choose to include the physical button for Google Assistantsomething that can serve style Bixby of Samsung either Siri in a team iPhone

The G9 Power’s processor is a Snapdragon 662Accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage that can be expanded with microSD up to 512 GB. The operating system is Android 10 with MyUX, which is the customization layer present in this Moto G9 Power with some extra functions so classic of Motorola. Although I was able to run several games without problems, it must be clear that it is a mid-range phone, therefore, do not try it with games that require too much graphics or processing.

As for the photographs item, we have a bet on a 64 megapixel sensor for the main camera, but without being accompanied by a wide angle. The secondary cameras are a macro lens and another for depth analysis, both with the same sensor. In fact, I leave you the summary of what it brings.

Main camera: sensor 64 megapixels (1.4 μm) Quad Pixel with Aperture Lens f/1.8.

macro camera with sensor 2 megapixels (1.75 μm) and lens with aperture f/2.4.

Depth: sensor 2 megapixels (1.75 μm) and lens with aperture f/2.4.

Frontal camera: sensor 16 megapixels (1 μm) Quad Pixel and f-aperture lens/2.2.

As for the video, the main camera can record in FullHD from 30 to 60 frames per second (also in HD at 30 fps). The macro camera stays with 30 fps and its quality is HD.

The truth is that the cameras comply, but they have several problems, especially in the speed of taking each picture. Also, the recurring problem of lack of light in a photocomplicates the final lighting. If your focus is not on having a smartphone to take high resolution photos, then this phone is for you.

But without a doubt, the most important and interesting thing about this G9 Power is its battery life. With 6,000 mAh it has approximately one 50% more capacity than many competitorswhich makes it a battery of two days of charge duration at least. Here I do believe that Moto achieved its goal, with a smartphone that you can have with you non-stop to plug it in anywhere.

Also, it comes with a charger. 20W Turbo Power in the box, while there is a connection USB-C at the base, not taking long to get to 100% charge.

In summary, It’s a pretty good mid-range phone. With important features such as the XXL battery life, a large screen, which, although it has a not so high resolution, complies perfectly. The same happens with cameras, which work without problems. Recommended mid-range phone.
