After several months of having suffered the attack with acid, Natalia decided to break her silence regarding the new attack suffered by a couple in Soacha.

The 33-year-old woman, who was attacked with acid last March at the entrance of her residence in the neighborhood the fulling, in the north of Bogotá, by a young man who became «obsessed» with her. Her case aroused the interest of the authorities, who offered 75 million pesos for the capture of her aggressor.

His statement came after hearing the news about a couple who was attacked with acid this Wednesday in Soacha, south of Bogotá. Natalia questioned that the Police had offered a reward of 10 million pesoswhen in his case they offered 75 million pesos. In addition, he requested that the punishments be more severe for those who commit this type of crime.
“I am outraged by the couple who burned in Soacha because the government offered 10 million. It seems elitist to me because the pain is pricelessNatalia asserted.
The woman’s life said his life changed 180 degrees and that during the months of recovery he has had a lot of strength thanks to the support of his family.
“I have had the support of many people. It is a painful process because they burned me quite a bit. My mother is a very strong person and she has done everything to get me ahead, «said Natalia.
Then, Natalia remembered the day of the terrible event. “He posed as an ex-boyfriend from when he was 20 years old, it seemed very strange to me when it was announced. First I told the doorman to let him continue, but since I had to throw some things away, I went downstairs. When I left I saw a mysterious man, with a cap and a hood, and there he attacked me”.
Currently, her attacker, jonathan vegais tried for attempted aggravated homicide, and the sentence can reach 30 years in prison.
About her day to day, the woman recounted how she lives the recovery stage. “I’m in a healing stage that takes a year to stop, so doing surgery doesn’t work sometimes.
Right now I’m between massages, masks and gels. Before, they reconstructed three layers of skin that were lost on my right leg, my abdomen, and my face.”
Natalia wants to become a leader of female acid victims and continue fighting so that they recognize and strengthen the penalties for those who commit them. “I am made to do something great and I am doing it. Life gives me the opportunity to end this that cannot continue to happen, there are many cases in impunity, «she explained.
The woman, she says, still does not go out to public places and only goes out to meet all her treatment appointments. “I get up early to get massages, then I am in therapy, I go to physiotherapy in the afternoon, to the psychiatrist once a week, I start the psychologist soon, sometimes it is difficult to sleep but I am achieving it.
