Descending breeze
While many architects would have uploaded the wind from the lower floors, Palinda Kannangara did the opposite. He designed the terrace as a wind tunnel, channeling the breeze down to wrapp their Open recreation spaceshis garden on the roof, the work of the landscaper Varna Shashidhar, and his sparking Avifauna, is the image of Eden, if the Eden existed at five levels on the ground. Kannangara did not limit nature abroad; also introduced it inside through Pocket gardens «In the room, next to the bathroom, flanking the hall,» wherever there was space and light. Also limited the aesthetic lexicon to Subtle tones and wooden touchesin an attempt to part with the city's stridency and serve as an antidote to the surrounding hard landscape; a Modern Department Cozy and relaxing unemployment.
