Is the computer a system? boundaries, components, inputs, outputs

Name: Nayibeth Oropeza – Origin: Venezuela

Visitor Question or Comment:

The computer can be considered a system.

Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:

Of course! The computer is a system, since it has parts that communicate with each other, that work as a whole; it also has a defined purpose (for more information read: System Definition).

The computer is classified as an artificial system, since it is man-made. It is an open system, because it exchanges information, energy and materials with the environment.

It has inputs of energy, matter and information: electrical energy, a network such as the Internet, new devices or storage disks can be placed on it, etc.

It has outputs: the monitor, sound, output through a network such as the Internet, information and data, etc.

The border is defined by your hardware.

It has subsystems: the microprocessor, the monitor, the printer, the hard drive, the video card, the operating system, etc.

Suprasystems: a computer can be seen as a system within another system. For example, a library system (the suprasystem) that has multiple subsystems such as a librarian, a book ordering system, and one or more computers.
