Is it true that the camera “fattens” 5 kg?

Not necessarily. Photo, video and cinema cameras always deform reality, making registered objects appear larger or smaller – this depends on the lighting, the angle and, mainly, the type of lens used. The one that equips cell phones, for example, is the wide angle. With it, you can frame a larger scene at a close distance. To do this, it compresses the image and some objects have their shape slightly changed: those on the edges appear smaller and those in the center (closer to the lens) become larger. Light also interferes with registration. If thrown directly on the object (like when using the flash), it will help to flatten it. Already a more diffuse lighting, which creates shadows and depth, can disguise imperfections. Another factor is the camera angle. Even if the lens used is a normal 50 mm lens (which emulates the human eye), if the camera takes the object from the bottom up, it will appear larger.
