Malinois, like many other German Shepherd breeds, are known to be used for law enforcement and security service.
Her impressive stature, intelligence and willingness to work contribute to her success in the selected teams at work.
But this career step is not always successful.
Conic was supposed to be such an impressive and intimidating Malinois, but nothing came of it. He has been housed in the Hamburg animal shelter since February 2023.
This is Conic
With a shoulder height of 60 centimeters and a weight of 23 kilograms, the Malinois male Conic has the appearance of a typical police dog.
If he feels safe, he likes to bark and show his teeth.
However, if he gets even a hint of headwind, he prefers to withdraw.
He hasn’t lost his rather shy and anxious nature even at the age of 3.
He also shows insecurities when dealing with people. However, once the ice is broken, he is open and friendly.
He has been living in the animal shelter since February 2023 and is waiting for his chance to lead a sporty and active life with experienced dog owners.
Active family and cuddly closeness wanted
As a guard and protector, Conic is not the ideal cast. But he is a great companion for fun and sport outside the home.
Preferably in the great outdoors and without encounters in which he has to prove himself.
A dog school or dog sport could suit him. Obedience and mantrailing or track work are certainly exciting opportunities for leisure activities.
Protection work is unsuitable for him by his very nature.
His upbringing still has to be worked on, which tends to hinder placement in families with small children.
Teenagers who know how to handle dogs shouldn’t be a problem.
His wariness of meeting new people can be quickly transformed into friendly affection if he is respected and accepted for who he is.
If he knows both the dogs and the people around him, he blossoms and shows his friendly and playful side.
His mischievous look adds to the attractiveness and quickly melts the ice.
