I press alt+64 and the at sign does not appear

Name: Domingo – Origin: Argentina

Visitor Question or Comment:

I press alt+64 and instead of appearing at a box it asks me if I want to exit

Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:

First, it is important that you know that ASCII characters are not activated by the numbers above the letter keys (which go from 1 to 0).

The 64 should be typed using the numbers on the numeric keypad, usually located on the far right on desktop computer keyboards. On notebook and netbook keyboards, they are typically located as a «second option» on the keys. You have to activate this keyboard a special key.

For example, on Toshiba notebooks you must press Fn + F11, and the numeric keypad is activated. Then it is possible to write the numbers that are located as «second option» in the keys that correspond to letters.

Other ways to access the at sign

You must first locate the @ symbol on the keyboard. In my case the at sign is shared with the number key

two

. Locate the at sign on your keyboard.

Then to access said symbol you must try this combination:

ctrl

+

@

, and the at sign should appear. I also suggest you try the key

Shift

and the key where the at symbol appears. I also suggest you try

AltGr

+ the key where you find your at sign (not all keyboards have Alt Gr).

If the at sign does not appear and another symbol appears, then it means that your keyboard language setting does not really correspond to your keyboard.

I suggest you try, first of all, the combination

ctrl

+

Alt

+

Q

. yes the key

Q

sometimes this allows you to write the at sign.

More information see: at sign (definition).

Set the keyboard to match what I type

In the event that you cannot access the at sign with the methods mentioned above, what you will have to do is change the language of the keyboard.

I can’t figure out what your keyboard’s key layout is, so you’ll have to try: trial and error.

For this you must go to Control Panel – Keyboard. If your keyboard has

Ñ

it means it is a Spanish keyboard, so you should try Spanish (Spain). But you also have Spanish (Latin America), etc. If your keyboard does not have the key

Ñ

then it may be an English keyboard.
