I need to present a 4×4 digital photo, how many pixels should it have? Thank you

Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:

The classic 4×4 photograph means that it will measure 4 cm x 4 cm.

Pixels don’t work like that… You could take a 1 megapixel digital photo and print it 4 x 4 cm. on paper, and even a huge 20 megapixel digital photograph and also print it 4 x 4 cm on paper.

The digital photograph SHOULD be square, for example: 1000 pixels wide by 1000 pixels high (1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000 pixels or 1 megapixel), because you are being asked for 4 x 4 cm. (it’s a square).

If you have a very small digital photograph, let’s say 300 x 300 pixels, printing it on 4 cm x 4 cm paper would not give the best result… the image could be printed in low quality (pixelated, it is said, because you would notice too much the pixels -points- that compose it).

I suggest that the digital image should be at least 1000 x 1000 pixels for acceptable quality on paper.
