Only if she comes clean and tells you. Not all girls bleed the first time – they may have a loose hymen or have it broken in some other way before engaging in sex (see question below). And, even if the hymen is broken in the first intercourse, there may not be bleeding because the amount of blood vessels that irrigate the hymen varies greatly. You can forget comments like: “Did you see how that girl’s hips got bigger? She must have had sex!” Sex doesn’t change anyone’s body. What happens is that girls generally start their sex life in adolescence, when hormones are in full swing and the organism is changing naturally. These changes come even if she doesn’t have sex – if she waits to lose her virginity at age 30, for example, she will go through the same physical transformations as a girl who has had sex since she was 13.
