Some time ago I blocked a friend’s comments so as not to see them at the start, now I try to remove that block but I can’t find the option in the current version of facebook.

You must enter the profile of your friend whose posts you blocked in your Facebook feed. There you will find a button that says «Follow» between the «Friends» button and the «Message» button.
You must follow your friend again, clicking on the «Follow» button will change it to «Following» and, in this way, the publications that your friend has in the News section of your Facebook will reappear.
Does that person find out that you are following them?
Yes, you can find out when you see your followers on your profile.
Note: Not all Facebook profiles can be followed, this is an option that may be disabled for a given Facebook user.
