Ingredients
- 500 grams of ripe guavas
- a pound of sugar
- The juice of half a lemon or orange
- Water
Preparation
Step 1. Cook
The first thing you should do is peel each of the guavas. Once you have done it, put them in a pot with enough water to cover them and start cooking them for about 15 minutes over medium-high heat. If you notice that the guavas are already soft, remove them from the stove. Take out all the water and pour them into a blender so they can be processed on their own. Stop the blender as many times as you need, so that they all go through the blades and you get a kind of porridge.
Step 2. Strain and cook
Now, take this porridge and pass it through a strainer to obtain only the pulp and remove the seeds (pips), depositing the result in a pot. Also, it will be the moment to add the lemon juice and all the sugar. Stir very well so that all these ingredients mix perfectly. Take this pot to the fire and then with the help of a wooden spoon, start stirring this preparation a little. You will have to let it cook for an hour, mixing this guava at times so that it does not stick, does not burn and thickens.
Step 3. Refrigerate
Pour the sandwich into a heat resistant refractory and let it rest for 30 or 45 minutes to cool down. Also, after this time, take it to the refrigerator and about two hours or later, it will be ready to cut and consume it. Enjoy this delicacy because it will be a sweet temptation.
