Ingredients

  • 20 grams of fresh yeast
  • 450 grams of wheat flour
  • 160 grams of milk
  • a pinch of salt
  • 60 grams of sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • A large cup of powdered sugar
  • Oil

Preparation

Step 1. Activate

The first thing you need to do is activate the yeast. In a small bowl, pour the milk and then the fresh yeast. Add a little sugar, stir well and cover the bowl, leaving it to act for about 10 minutes until a kind of foam begins to form.

Step 2. Mix

In a separate bowl, put the flour, sugar and salt to taste, taking care to stir these ingredients quite well. Break the 3 eggs, pour their content into the mixture and stir with the help of your hands until the ingredients are integrated. Check that your yeast has already released the foam and pour it into the bowl in which you have your dough. Mix everything again and wait for a slightly more compact dough to form. Finally add the butter and knead for about 5 minutes. Allow the dough to rest for 45 minutes, covering the bowl with a cloth.

Step 3. Knead

Sprinkle a little flour on a flat surface (which is perfectly clean) and divide your dough into two parts to be able to work it better. With the help of a roller, extend it until it is about 2 cm wide. Now, take a mold, the mouth of a glass or a container and cut the dough so that it is circular, making as many cuts as you want. Let your donuts rest for about 10 minutes before frying them.

Step 4. Fry

In a deep skillet or pot, heat enough oil to make your donuts float. Once the oil has taken a good temperature, submerge the donuts. When they take on a golden tone on each side, it will be time to turn them over.

Step 5. Fill

To fill them, use a skewer stick to make a wide hole in one end, and insert a pastry bag or the nozzle of the package that the arequipe comes in, for example, or any jam you want to use to fill it.
