Ingredients

  • 800 grams of yucca
  • 1 egg
  • a tablespoon of flour
  • 100 grams of ground meat
  • a stalk of onion
  • Oil

Preparation

Step 1. Cook

The first thing you should do is peel the yucca, cut it into medium or small pieces and put it to cook. Do it by adding water, salt and putting it in a pot either express or normal for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, you can make the filling. Finely chop the onion and reserve it in a bowl. Heat a frying pan with a little oil and fry the onion until transparent. Also put the meat there to fry it a little. Add salt and pepper, stir and let the meat cook perfectly.

Step 2. Knead

When the yucca is soft, take it out without the water in a container and start to mash it with a fork until you get a puree; let cool for about 5 minutes. Break the egg and add it to this puree, along with a part of the flour that you will use in this recipe. Knead very well with your hands until you get a smooth dough that does not stick to your hands and is easy to mold. Add salt if the dough needs it. Take a part of the dough and with the palm of your hand give it the guaranteed shape it has. Fill with the meat and close the cake well with the help of your hands.

Step 3. Fry

Take a deep pot, put enough oil to cover the cakes and let it heat. Submerge the cakes and allow them to fry about 5 minutes, turning each one to brown evenly. Take them out, put them to drain on absorbent paper and voila, you can share them with the whole family!
