Ingredients
- 3 cups of wheat flour
- 1 cup (226g) cold butter
- 1 beaten egg
- Two tablespoons of cold water or milk
- A teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Preparation
Step 1. Mix
The first thing you should do is sift the flour, that is, pass it through a sieve to deposit it in a large bowl. You can add the teaspoon of salt and baking powder to this flour all at once and continue sifting. Once all the contents are in the bowl, mix the flour very well again. Now, add the butter in pieces trying to spread it throughout the bowl and then start, with the help of your hands, to knead to disintegrate the butter until you obtain a mixture that looks like a sandy type. Add the beaten egg here and knead everything again.
Step 2. Knead
At this point, your dough should look somewhat dry. This will be the time for you to add the tablespoons of cold water or milk. Knead very well until you get a mixture that does not stick to your hands. Wrap the dough in transparent paper and refrigerate it for about 20 minutes. Finally, the dough will be ready for you to start the process of making the empanadas with the filling that you like the most. Dare to do it right now at home.
