Wheel chair or table

Materials:

  • thick rope
  • spray glue
  • Glue for wood
  • Wood
  • Foam
  • Cloth
  • Stapler
  • You can find used tires in places that are specifically dedicated to tire repair, or even find out if there is an organization dedicated to recycling this harmful object, such as this Mexican association.

Everything else you can find in hardware stores, tlapalerías, fabric stores and lumber stores. You can also look for the rope in online stores, where there is a good variety of colors.

    Process:

Wash the tire very well and let it dry. Cut the wood the same size as the rim, spray a coat of the spray glue on the rim, let it dry slightly, and then apply wood glue to the surface of the rim that you will attach to the rim. Let dry 8 hours. Spray a coat of glue on top of the rim and all over the wood. Go entangling the rope starting from the middle of the wood and go making a spiral. Spray another coat of spray glue on the sides of the tire and continue to wrap the rope around until you get to where you can’t see the rubber of the tire at the bottom.

Depending on the thickness of the wood, your rim could look like a flat table like in the photo above; or if it is sunk in the middle you can make an armchair.

Just use another wood, glue the foam cut to the same dimensions, and staple to the back the fabric of your choice cut in a square shape with an extra 5 cm to make doubles and stapling around the wood. You will have a nice chair.
