Visitor Question or Comment:
How much is 1Gb?
Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:
1 GB (gigabyte) in the traditional or classic definition is equivalent to:
* 1024 MB (megabytes)
* 1048576KB (kilobytes)
* 1073741824 bytes
* 8589934592 bits
These conversions take into account the classic version of byte units. In recent years, attempts have been made to modify the names or units to allow a better understanding of storage units, but this is not widespread. The texts on Wikipedia often use the «new» units.
In the new units the previous conversion table is renamed as follows:
1 GiB (gibibyte) are:
* 1024 MiB (mebibytes)
* 1048576 KiB (kibibytes)
* 1073741824 bytes
* 8589934592 bits
Note that the names of the units and their abbreviation change. You may ask, what about the names used in the classic abbreviations: GB, KB, MB…? In the «new» definitions of these units the conversion would be as follows:
1 GB (gigabyte) are:
* 1000 MB (megabytes)
* 1000000KB (kilobytes)
* 1000000000 bytes
I must remember that these redefinitions are not completely widespread but it is good to know that they exist.
I recommend reading our article:
