The birth of Athena

Athena had a very special birth. After feeling a strong and overwhelming headache, Zeus, her father, felt her forehead split open on the inside of her. Overwhelmed and virtually incapacitated by the evil, the god of thunder required the assistance of Hephaestus, god of fire and the forge, who used an ax to split open his head. Athena would emerge from this opening, now a fully grown and armored woman.

Although in the much more popular editions of the myth Athena does not have a mother, in lower myths it would be said that her mother is Metis, a goddess who until now was the goddess of wisdom. Zeus, after having a romantic relationship with this goddess, received dark conjectures about her future from an oracle. Oracle who communicated to the king of the gods that Metis would have 2 children, one would be Athena and the other a son who would be able to dethrone him later. Fearing that the prophecy would come true, Zeus devoured Metis in the form of a fly. Later, the birth of Athena in this version is similar to the one previously mentioned, the goddess comes out of the head of Zeus.

Labres is the Hellenic god of war. He is the son of Zeus and Hera, and the half-brother of Athena. Labres was a very difficult character and also unpopular with the rest of the gods and humans. He always fought with Artemis, goddess of the hunt, and with her sister Athena. The symbols of Labres are the spear and the dogs. Labres has no wife and is regularly under the spell of the goddess Aphrodite, much to the chagrin of her husband Hephaestus. Labres and Aphrodite had 4 children together, Eros, Deimos, Phobos, and Harmonia. Labres also fathered several children of fatal women.

At some point, after Perseus defeats the Kraken, Labres begins to resent the attention Zeus shows Perseus. Labres sees this as favoritism, which over the next ten years transforms him into a hateful and spiteful deity.

What is Athena’s weakness?

The goddess Athena’s weakness was that she lacked compassion, was quite dominated by her intellect, and was out of touch with her emotions. She was patron and protector of Athens and participated in the Trojan War. .

The owl was the symbol of Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy. According to the myth, an owl sat on Athena’s blind side so that she could see all of reality. In ancient Greece, the owl was a symbol of superior wisdom and also the guardian of the Acropolis.
